Cloudy with a Chance of Pizzas! No, it’s not a new animation movie; but Dodo Pizza in Russia, have launched the world’s first drone pizza delivery service.

The pizzeria posted a video, showing drones air-dropping pizzas to customers, and it was not just a publicity stunt.
The drone is able to delivery up to 5 kg of weight, at speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour. The drone will fly from Dodo’s pizzeria to the customer, and will hover 20 meters above ground in order to avoid theft. The drone will then lower the pizza with a cable, and if someone tries to pull on the cable, the drone triggers an emergency mechanism, which releases the cable, and the drone will fly away.
The devices are kitted out with video cameras, and a GPS system, which are linked to the restaurant’s manager to ensure safe delivery to the correct customer.
The orders and payment should be complete on-line or by phone because the drones are not yet stocked to accept cash or card.

Let’s see how long it will take for a Maltese pizzeria to launch such a service.
